Sunday June 14, 2015 – Station 91, Station 13-1, Ladder 926, and BLS 99 was dispatched to 1 Haggas Avenue in the Oak Valley section of Deptford for a working dwelling fire. Battalion Chief 9101 (Hooper) arrived to find a 1.5 wood frame single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing with fire in the A/D corner. Engine 912 grabbed their own water supply on the way in and led off with hand lines. Ladder 926 was ordered to the Alpha division and to set up. At this time the fire self-vented through the roof with heavy fire. Interior crews were evacuated and Ladder 926 went into service with the ladder pipe. Engine 942 was ordered to lay a 5″ supply line from Engine 922 to Engine 912. Crews from Engine 942, Engine 943, and Cascade 947 performed overhaul operations on the fireground. The fire was was brought under control and crews started hitting small pockets of hot spots. There was one firefighter injury and the fire is under investigation by the Deptford Fire Marshal’s Office, the Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Deptford Police Dept and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office
